Burgess House, Leicester Square, Leicester
ARM Buildings were awarded a £400,000 contract to supply and install infill wall panels to the substantial urban regeneration project of Leicester Square, one of the city's industrial architectural landmarks.
The £25 million project is a partnership development between Thomas Fish and Sons and Metropolitan Housing Partnership and will, when completed boast 350 apartments.
- Following a site survey by ARM Buildings engineers panels were prefabricated off site to include window apertures and service penetrations.
- Panels were formed with 9mm OSB/3 either side of a timber stud frame and infilled with 0.030 W/mK Polystyrene.
- A high performance breathable membrane to the external face reduced any potential risk of condensation within the building structure.
- The use of panels reduced construction time and provided a dry envelope early in the programme.
- Panels were supplied with counter battens on the internal face to allow for on-site installation of multi-foil insulation.
- An overall U Value of 0.18 W/m2K was achieved, giving the Housing Association the benefit of lower running costs for the tenants.
